Lia Mice: Artist Talk
Musician and multidisciplinary artist Lia Mice talks about her work, which ranges from creating electronic pop using experimental production techniques to designing a range of innovative and flexible instruments. Hear about how she conceived the One-Handed Violin, the Prism Bell and the Chaos Bells and her approach to using them in her audiovisual live sets.
The seminar is the 10th of 12 online events featuring musical artists and audio professionals running throughout 2021 as part of Level Up In Audio. This YSWN project aims to inspire, grow and sustain the skills and creative opportunities of women and people of minority genders who have an interest in music and technology and whose work and professional development have been curtailed by the coronavirus pandemic.
The seminar will take place via Zoom; attendees will receive a private link through the email used for booking in advance of the event. Tickets are free and space is limited. Please get in touch by emailing info@yorkshiresoundwomen.com if you have any access requirements that would make it easier for you to enjoy this event.
Lia will speak for around 50 minutes, followed by time for attendees to ask questions about her work.
As part of YSWN’s Level Up in Audio project this seminar series is intended for an audience of women and people of minority genders – we ask that you respect this when booking tickets and do not deny someone else a place if you are not among this group. We plan to record the seminar for sharing online with a wider audience at a later date.

About Lia Mice
Lia Mice is a London-based multidisciplinary artist whose works include electronic music production, live A/V performance, composition, instrument design, interactive sculpture and academic papers.
Dubbed a pioneer of experimental pop by Berlin's KALTBLUT magazine, Mice's unique productions are the result of years of studio experimentation with technology old and new including analogue samplers, Max/MSP, self-designed digital musical instruments and 8-track tape. Her all-hardware live A/V sets incorporate large-scale self-designed instruments and voice sampling with dancers and audio-reactive visuals.
She has performed live in 15 countries including at The Tate Modern Tate Lates, the Barbican Centre, Museum of Arts and Design (New York) and WOMB (Tokyo). Her album The Sampler As A Time Machine is out on Optimo Music.
