Weekend course
Saturday 25th / Sunday 26th March 2017
11 am – 5 pm
£135.00
Tutor: Sumiko Eadon
We are delighted to welcome Sumiko Eadon to WYPW from Leicester Print Workshop to teach this fascinating process. The course runs alongside the ‘Small Print International’ exhibition – a touring exhibition of contemporary miniprints – in the gallery throughout March, in which Sumiko is one of the exhibitors. Sumiko is also a shortlisted artist for the WYPW 2016 Flourish Printmaking Award.
The CMYK, (or four colour separation), method enables you to make full-colour screen prints from computer-generated artwork. Using photo-editing software, images are separated into the Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black colour layers, and a ‘halftone’ filter is applied to ensure that the image is of up made up of dots. Theimage layers are then outputted onto transparencies, transferred onto screens using the photo-emulsion technique, and printed in register on top of one-another, to create a finished print.
In this introductory course, you will learn how the colour separation works on the computer, then make a screen and print your own art work. Bring a high-resolution, full-colour image of your own digital photograph to make a small print.
This course is recommended for those who have had some previous experience of screen printing. Complete beginners should attend one of our other workshops which will focus more on the basic principles of screen printing. Please get in touch and we’ll be happy to advise.
All course prices include basic materials.
