WOVEN Fundraising Support

COMMISSION OPPORTUNITY:
WOVEN, as part of Kirklees Council, is seeking a fundraiser who can work with us to develop a fundraising strategy and write local and national applications. This role can be split between a local and a national fundraiser.
HOURS: freelance contract
RESPONSIBLE TO: Natalie Walton, Director HATCH - Festival Curator

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
WOVEN festival is a celebration of textile heritage and innovation. Initiated and funded by Kirklees Council, the festival is owned by everyone, from community groups, to industry, cultural organisations, artists, businesses and heritage sites across the district.

WOVEN’s theme is generations of innovators, connecting a strong heritage with today’s innovative developments in industry, university research, a strong arts and crafts scene and the creative expression of the district’s rich and diverse communities.

The next WOVEN festival will take place in June 2023, however there are long term projects that have been established to embed the festival within its communities. WOVEN also has a strong online presence with resources and ways to engage.

WOVEN receives its core funding from Kirklees Council, but to successfully deliver the WOVEN23 projects , WOVEN needs to bring in other funding sources.

As WOVEN is a Kirklees Council initiative that is delivered by Hatch CIC , it does not have its own bank account but sits within the council, and fundraising must happen as part of the council. We deliver many of our projects in partnerships, with the aim of a long term local legacy and wish to support partners to apply for funds that will enable WOVEN Festival to happen.

Key Outputs and Accountabilities
Help develop the WOVEN fundraising strategy that combines large national applications, smaller local funding opportunities along with empowering partners to apply for funds for themselves
Identify sources of funding that WOVEN (Council) and partners can bid for
Ensure concise timeframes for the strategy are developed to maximize opportunities

Person Specification
Independence, a positive attitude, patience.
Proven track record of developing fundraising strategies and successful fundraising
Knowledge of and connections with local, national & international funding opportunities
Good personal communications skills
Able to work as part of a dispersed team
Organised and effective time-management to meet deadlines

Tasks, Delivery, Schedule and Fees
Fee: £8750
Contract Terms: This is a time based contract up until March 2023.
Reporting: This Freelance post reports directly to the WOVEN curator and/or WOVEN co-ordinator.
