We need performers, talks & workshops for INTERWOVEN in Dewsbury
We need workshop facilitators, dancers, musicians, poets, storytellers, historians and more. Is this you?
I N T E R W O V E N is a part of the wider WOVEN textile festival, supported by Kirklees Council, and brings communities together through music and storytelling, to celebrate our shared experiences of the textile industry, past and present, in Dewsbury and across Kirklees.
I N T E R W O V E N in Dewsbury will include an exhibition in the town centre from 30th April to 15th May and an evening of live performance at Dewsbury Minster on Friday 6th May. The new musical piece, inspired by stories of the North Kirklees textile industry, will be performed by Qawwali musicians, a brass band and folk singers, and they will be joined by local poet Ahmad Lunat reading a new piece of poetry, also inspired by the local stories.
What We Need
In addition to the above, we would also like to hold workshops and talks in the exhibition space, and add additional elements to the evening of live performance on Friday 6th May.
Workshops – dance, creative writing, music, textiles, craft etc connected to the themes below if possible
Talks – on any of the themes outlined below
Live Performance – dance, storytelling, music etc connected to the themes below if possible
Please fill in an expression of interest if you have an idea for the exhibition or a performance that we haven’t listed above. We’d hate to miss out on something we haven’t thought of yet ourselves.

or record and send a short (no more than 5 minute) piece of audio or video to alison@hatchprojects.org.uk by 12 noon on Monday 7 March.
As we are working to tight deadlines we want to programme already existing activities or performances, rather than ideas that need to be developed.
Whilst the application process is open to anyone, at WOVEN we aim to work with people from Kirklees wherever possible. For this version of INTERWOVEN we are particularly interested in working with people across diverse cultures and communities from Dewsbury and North Kirklees.
Deadline for expressions of interest: 12 noon Mon 7 March
Successful applicants informed: by Thurs 10 March
