Watford Philharmonic Society Watford Philharmonic Society
Founded by Leslie Regan in 1935, with support from the great
Sir Henry Wood, Watford Philharmonic Society comprises an
amateur choir and orchestra and is one of the largest musical
societies of its kind in the country.
With a total membership of around 170, our repertoire
encompasses major choral and orchestral works both classical
and modern, and includes concert performances of operatic
pieces and popular music from stage and screen. Currently, we
give three to four concerts a year in the Watford Colosseum,
consistently attracting distinguished professional soloists.
The Society is also pleased to participate in a number of
local events throughout the year, often in support of charities
or special family occasions. We also hold Workshops for the
development of skills in both choral singing and orchestral
playing
