Sat-ART-day (FREE Art Activities)

Join us for some Half Term fun this Sat-ART-day and explore Together – an exhibition of portraits from the University of Hertfordshire Art Collection! Come and get creative – make, see, and hear about the exhibition.

Looking for a way to keep the children entertained? This fun and free day will be jam-packed with inspiring activities for people of all ages to enjoy. Make your own arts + crafts portraits, see our spectacular Sculpture Walk, hear about the amazing artworks in the exhibition, and grab a bite to eat in our café – leave all the clearing up mess to us!

‘Making Faces’ Drop-in art activities in the Gallery Café

Come and use our materials and create something to take away in response to the themes of the exhibition. You are invited to play with colour and texture, use collage to create a portrait or make your very own fridge magnet! With Halloween around the corner, why not create something spooky too…

Together: Portraiture from the UH Art Collection

A small snapshot into the multiplicity of human experience, every portrait captures a moment in a person’s life – through the lens of the sitter, artist, or sponsor. The stories explored in this exhibition are diverse, and begin in the 1700s, but there are connections to our contemporary era and the issues we face today. Join the Exhibition Tour to hear more about the themes and ideas behind the exhibition.

Self-Guided Sculpture Walk

Grab a Sculpture Map from the gallery desk and take a refreshing walk around campus to explore the outdoor sculptures for yourself! The Sculpture Walk forms part of the University Art Collection and presents an eclectic group of works which map the changing characteristics of British Sculpture since the 1950s.

The Café will be open for delicious refreshments. Children must be accompanied by adults. Booking is encouraged but not essential. Parking is FREE on Saturdays. Accessible parking and toilets are available and the entrance to the Art + Design Gallery is at ground level.
