Fantastic Pictures

The orchestra will perform Berlioz’ Symphony Fantastique whilst James explores its highly appropriate subtitle ‘An episode in the Life of an Artist, in Five Parts’. The Symphony contains some wonderfully rich and evocative music on themes of fantastic and sometimes ghostly visions. We’ll prepare the theme in the first half of the concert purely orchestrally through Saint Saens’ Danse Macabre and Respighi’s La Boutique Fantasque, the Magic Toyshop, based on Rossini’s piano pieces.
