Create vegetable colours and be part of a project about a new kind of green energy
The proceeds will be donated to Magic Dye House, a charitable project that brings art, colours and nature into hospitals and places devoted to children and their health. www.magicdyehouse.org
Vegetable colours and art are energy for the soul but could the dye plants also be a resource of renewable electricity?
So could they be the solar panels of the future and also indirectly benefit the wellbeing of the environment and people?
During the workshop you will experiment the “energy” of the vegetable colours and you could also measure the scientific energy of the same plant.
Dr Paolo Bombelli from Cambridge University started 10 years ago to study the method to make green energy from plants called Biophotovoltaics. It uses the energy made from the bacteria in the soil after eating the sugar from plant roots.
The workshop will include looking at the roots of some dye plants, making some vegetable based colours using the roots and a small presentation about a new kind of green energy from the roots of plants.
The workshop will be led by eco-illustrator Deisa Centazzo of Magic Dye House, and Dr Paolo Bombelli of Cambridge University.
