“The audience, as one, was agog.... Osborne's attack is fearless, his tenderness beyond words. His self appears subsumed in service to the composer. This is the best it gets” The Observer
Steven Osborne’s standing as one of the great pianists of his generation was publically affirmed in 2013 with two major awards: The Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist of the Year and his second Gramophone Award. Previous awards include a 2009 Gramophone Award for his recording of Britten’s works for piano and orchestra, as well as first prizes at both the Naumburg International Competition (New York) and Clara Haskil Competition.
Steven’s recital for Dartington follows Alfred Brendel’s lecture on late Schubert: he plays Schubert’s best-loved Impromptus and his final sonata. A mesmeric and satisfying programme.
Schubert Four Impromptus D.935
Schubert Sonata in B flat D.960
Part of the Dartington International Summer School concert and event programme.
