The great Scottish operatic mezzo Mhairi Lawson performs a recital of songs from the Scottish folksong tradition (Robbie Burns, Hugh MacDiarmid), as well as lieder by Haydn (Arianna a Naxos), Mozart and Schumann (Des Knaben Wunderhorn, Frauenliebe und Leben). Mhairi has a divine, effortless virtuosity and a sparkling, warm communication: her recital, with Artistic Director Joanna MacGregor, will be very special indeed.

As a soloist Mhairi has performed in opera houses and concert halls worldwide with such companies as English National Opera, Les Arts Florissants, The Gabrieli Consort and The Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and with many leading conductors such as William Christie, Sir Charles Mackerras, Paul McCreesh, Jane Glover and Sir John Eliot Gardiner, in repertoire ranging from traditional folksong to opera.
