La Serenissima specialise in in the music of Antonio Vivaldi and his contemporaries, the more fiery and virtuoso the better. An extraordinarily skilful and brilliant group, they are led by the indefatigable violinist Adrian Chandler, whose energy, wit and astonishing technique will thrill and amaze you.

La Serenissima have performed worldwide to great acclaim, and in 2010 won a Gramophone Award. Their eleventh CD, Venice by Night was released in 2012 and included world premiere recordings of music by Lotti, Pollarolo, Porta and Veracini alongside better known composers such as Vivaldi and Albinoni; this CD reached the top ten of the UK classical charts as did their 2013 recording Vivaldi — A Tale of Two Seasons. 2014 marked the 20th anniversary of the group’s existence and they celebrated with trips to Estonia, Germany, Italy and two recordings of Per Monsieur Pisendel 2 and Vivaldi — Il Prete Rosso.

Their programme for Dartington comprises the lean beauty, virtuosity and sizzling creativity of two-violin sonatas accompanied by cello and harpsichord, by Venetian masters.
