Florian Mitrea: piano
Monday 17 August, 10pm Great Hall

“Mitrea’s playing has a crispness that stems from confidence in himself.” Reg Burnard
The brilliant young Romanian pianist Florian Mitrea was recently awarded third prize and the Classical Concerto Prize at the 2014 ARD International Competition in Munich, having previously won the Lagny-sur-Marne 2014 and Panmusica 2010 Vienna International Piano Competitions.
Currently a Fellow at the Royal Academy of Music, Florian is playing a really weighty programme of piano works reflecting conflict and resolution: Schubert’s profound Sonata in A minor and Prokofiev’s mighty war sonata, No.6, first performed in Moscow in 1940.
Schubert Sonata in A minor D.784
Prokofiev Sonata No. 6 in A major Op.82
Part of the Dartington International Summer School concert and event programme.
