A substantial and satisfying programme to end the week. Eric Whitacre is an immensely popular and melodic composer, paired here with James MacMillan’s intensely beautiful Lux Aeterna. The young prize-winning pianist Florian Mitrea plays the sunniest and most tender of all of Mozart’s piano concertos, K.488, and we finish with the dramatically exciting Requiem, sung by our very own Big Choir.
Nigel Perrin is an inspirational choral director and teacher, directing the City of Bath Bach Choir, Exeter Festival Chorus, Wells Cathedral School Chamber Choir, and Bath Camerata. He was a founding member of the King’s Singers, and has been described as ‘infectiously upbeat,’ ‘vibrant and energetic,’ and ‘a cross between Mick Jagger and Harry Christophers’!
