Priory Park, Present and Past

Priory Park is Chichester’s village green within the City Walls. Over the last 2000 years it has had Roman townhouse, Norman castle, mediaeval Friary, Civil War gun platform, Georgian trials, County Cricket matches, Royal visits. This talk by local historian Andrew Berriman will celebrate all of this, and also discuss some Park mysteries.

Andrew is Secretary of Chichester Local History Society, Treasurer of the Chichester Walls Trust, and a Chichester Green Badge Guide. He writes extensively about Chichester’s varied past. Until retirement, he was Head of Sixth Form at Chichester High.
