Anyone interested in learning the piano in 2025?
My neighbour, Neil Chaffey, is a highly qualified & very experienced piano teacher.
Qualifications:-
Bachelor of Arts in Music: Manchester University
Royal College of Music - Associate Diploma in Piano Teaching
Fellow of the Royal College of Organists
He has taught in state schools & as a private teacher for more than 40 years
and in North Herts for the past 30 years with over a hundred girls & boys.
I teach children aged 5 to 18 years & adults.
Learning the piano develops an alert mind, so that children can make good progress at school, especially in subjects like maths, sciences & languages
To begin lessons a piano is not essential because children can practice on a Yamaha keyboard & the best model is PSR52. The keyboard can be used for two years, in order to sit preliminary exams, before changing to the piano.
Parents are invited to sit in on lessons, so they learn how to guide their children in practice at home.
His students take Trinity College London exams, from grades 1 to 8,
taken at Benslow Music, Hitchin.
When students reach year 12 (or earlier) at Secondary School,
Grades 6 to 8 awards earn UCAS points, which can contribute
to applications to University & enhance the quality of University
to which students can apply.
From January 2025, fees for lessons are as follows:-
5 & 6 years - 15 minute lessons at £11.25
7 to 18 years - 30 minute lessons at £22.50
As students advance from grade 4 to grade 8, longer lessons are essential for 45 or 60 minutes.
Neil lives in Lower Stondon, Henlow, just a 10-minute drive up the A600.
