Cyanotype workshop with Rebecca Chesney
Learn how to make your own cyanotypes using one of the earliest forms of photography, first discovered by John Herschel in 1842. This camera-less photographic technique produces a cyan blue print by placing objects on photosensitised paper that is then exposed to sunlight. Participants will be encouraged to collect plant specimens from the Baltic Wharf site or nearby, and then use pre-treated sun-sensitive paper to make cyanotypes which they can take home with them.
The workshop leader, artist Rebecca Chesney (www.rebeccachesney.com) uses this technique in her own work to survey, record and archive.
This workshop is suitable for ages 7+. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Ticket price includes all materials.
Please note: the ticket cost includes a 95p booking charge by Event Brite. If you would prefer to avoid this cost you may pay £5 for your ticket on arrival and email info@suzanneheath.co.uk to reserve your place.
10am - 12noon. Tickets £5 + booking fee
