Senior Museum Assistant
Senior Museums Assistant – Full-time 37 hours per week
Flexible working hours will include evenings, weekends and bank holidays
Inclusive Salary Range from £24,463 up to £27,067 per year
Plus up to 18.5% employer pension contribution
St Albans is a unique English Cathedral City with a colourful history which can be seen in the Roman remains and variety of beautiful architecture, heritage sites and conservation areas. Set within green belt, off the M25, A1M and M1 the District includes a cathedral, historic city centre and charming villages. St Albans Museums runs several sites including Verulamium Museum, the 15th century Clock Tower and a New Museum and Gallery in St Albans Town Hall, at the heart of the city centre. The facilities are open around the year seven days a week.
In this post you will support the Operations Manager in the effective and safe operation of the front of house service at the Museums. This will include managing the staff rotas, inductions and appraisals. You will also ensure that our performance and customer service standards are maintained at a high level.
You must be educated to GCSE level in English and Maths at grade A – C or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge through experience. You must also have or be willing to work towards an NVQ Level 3 in Team leading/management. Experience of working in a customer services environment. A First Aid certificate or a Health and Safety qualification would be desirable.
Previous experience of working within a customer services or retail/shop environment is essential for these posts. Experience of working within a museum service would be desirable. You must also be IT literate Knowledge of the Microsoft packages and the Internet - especially Outlook, Word and Excel.
