Bayt - The Art of Arab Hospitality - Dance & Singing Workshops

Welcome to Bayt, The Art of Arab Hospitality. This exhibition is curated by Suhad Jarrar Brown, an anthropologist of Palestinian origins and a resident of Hertford.

The free exhibition runs from 23rd April to 30th April from 12pm to 7pm each day with two special days of entertainment on Friday 26th April and a Dance Workshop on Saturday 27th April 2019.

Come and enjoy the unique collection of Palestinian embroidered textiles, tribal jewellery, music and arabic food.

Amel Tafsout, a Berber artist who was born in Algeri,a is one of the finest champions of North African traditional and contemporary Maghreb Dance and has mesmerised audiences worldwide. Amel is a voyager between countries, culture and languages she teaches, performs and conducts anthropological research. Amel will teach a workshop for all ages to enjoy.

Julia Katarina, a mezzo soprano singer will entertain with playing of the Cello and Oud and she has also taught music in Palestine for 4 years.

Please join us for an morning of fun with dancing and singing with some story telling after and another chance to enjoy the dressing up box plus taste and smell some glorious spices.
