Sheila de Rosa Visual Artist
Sheila’s work takes a critical view of social, political and cultural issues and is motivated by the evidential ironies of photography and the technical complexities of printmaking.
Using a variety of materials and processes Sheila creates visually seductive artwork that combines techniques and asks questions about the perception of reality.
During the first half of 2022 she was appointed Artist in Residence as part of Hertfordshire Libraries ‘My Story’ project, where she conducted Print workshops and Drop-In sessions. She has now been appointed Residency Consultant for Hertfordshire Libraries county-wide roll out of Residencies.
Sheila teaches Printmaking techniques alongside more esoteric paper-based workshops from her studio at Open Door, Berkhamsted (and elsewhere) where she will open the studio as part of Bucks Art Weeks.
Sheila exhibits frequently and was part of Thinking for Printing at Bankside gallery in February 2023 where her work ‘Benign Indifference’ sold to a London collector. This year she has been peer selected as a member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen which has been supporting/promoting artists and makers since 1887.
