About Red Dragonfly Productions
Bringing classic and modern stories from the East to British and European Stage.β
βRed Dragonfly Theatre Productions has been formed to introduce British and European audiences to the vast wealth of stories from the East and Far East. Working in collaboration with Grist to the Mill Productions we have now started on a three year programme to bring three classic Chinese stories to the British stage β The Autumn of Han, The Chain Stratagems and Monkey: The Journey to the West β and we want rural to mid-scale touring to make up an essential part of that programme.
The Autumn of Han has already debuted at Edinburgh Fringe 2013, with The Chain Stratagems set to be premiered in 2014. It was adapted by Ross Ericson, whose critically acclaimed Casualties has now been published by Methuen Drama, and it is a tale of tragedy, love and revenge in the imperial court of Han. In commissioning it we wanted the play not just to reflect the culture and the history of that ancient Chinese period but to also entertain and be accessible to European audiences.
The Autumn of Han is visually stunning, sharply written and, above all, a great story. We know it deserves a wider audience and that is why our experience company of British and East Asian actors and technicians are truly excited with the idea of bringing this production to rural venues. As a fully contained touring company we offer your promoters a hassle free service and your audiences a great opportunity to experience the culture and history of China in a truly entertaining evening. We are also eager to develop real relationships so as to open up the opportunities for our future productions.
