Northern Quarter, Huddersfield / Opportunities / Mon 21 Dec 2020
Open Call: Performers, Jan - March
1st person
We’re looking for musicians and performers for our next season of Unprecedented Events from January-March 2021.
We are looking for solo acts, duets or trios to perform either one or two 45-minute sets. We want to hear from anyone with talent- singers, actors, DJs, bongo players, performance artists, woodwind, brass, you name it!
Your performance will be filmed by our in-house film crew, and then projected in 4k on a 150’’ screen, 2 weeks later, to a socially distanced audience in historically important grassroots music venue, Northern Quarter, Huddersfield. If selected, we will contact you to arrange a filming date on a Tuesday.
We would love to work with artists local to Huddersfield and surrounding areas, but welcome applications from further afield too.
As a safe and inclusive space, Northern Quarter welcomes applications from performers of any cultural background; people of colour, womxn/trans/non-binary performers, performers with disabilities, LGBTQ+ performers, etc. Everyone is welcome to apply.
The fee for this work is £150 per person (so a duet would receive £300 total, a trio would receive £450).
As this is a freelance job, artists should be responsible for their own tax and National Insurance contributions.
To apply, fill out both the application form here: https://forms.gle/3qfjPtrrAeJgYHLf6
And also our diversity monitoring form here: https://forms.gle/L7YwQ1zfHya2324m8
The deadline is 9am on Monday 21st December.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Emily on emily27696@gmail.com or Sam on 07941 635 262.
Northern Quarter is a safe, inclusive music venue and small independent bar for developing artists and new & existing audiences. We have hosted Grammy Award winning Keyon Harold, Cultural Olympiad Yazz Ahmed, Mercury Prize nominated Laura Jurd, Björk drummer Chris Corsano & PRS supported Vula Viel.
Unprecedented Events is a pandemic-resilient, high production digital media project for grassroots music in Huddersfield. We have been awarded a Project Grant by Arts Council England, and are supported by Kirklees Council’s ‘Year of Music 2023’. The project will provide new ways for emerging artists’ to develop and engage local audiences through the innovation and adaptation of digital performance styles.
