Lupton House ..Open Day
LUPTON HOUSE OPEN DAY
Saturday 15th August 2009
On Saturday 15th August The Lupton Trust will be hosting an Open Day to showcase their visionary plans for Lupton House – formerly known as the Gramercy Hall School in Churston Ferrers. This Grade II* listed building set in beautiful parkland has been left empty and closed to visitors for the past five years. The Lupton Trust was formed to bring life back to this beautiful house and gardens and put it into use for the benefit of the community. Part of this regeneration will include the setting up of a ‘charities enterprise village’ for local charities to share expertise and resources to optimise their valuable work.
The regeneration project will identify innovative working and lifestyle opportunities and put them to real use by applying them in practical terms throughout the vision of Lupton Trust, underpinned at all times by the promotion of wellbeing and sustainable ways of living.
The Open Day promises to be a truly unique day, offering a diverse range of displays, entertainment, information and experiences from music workshops and performances to Chinese dragons, a Tai Chi demonstration and alternative therapies. There will be plenty of activities for children from craft making to face painting, opportunities to meet animals and listen to stories throughout the day.
Refreshments will be available catering to all tastes including vegetarian food with a hog roast and sausage barbeque on the lawn and Indian food available from the old ‘coach house’. Tea, coffee and home made cakes will be served throughout the day in the house itself and a licensed bar situated in the marquee on the tennis courts.
Parking will be available for disabled guests, but all other visitors are being asked to use the park and ride facility - where a dedicated shuttle bus will be provided - or to use the Stagecoach bus that stops at the end of the drive. Admission is a donation of £2, dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead.
The aim of the open day is to raise funds for the repairs of Lupton House, to showcase The Lupton Trust vision, and invite members of the public to get involved at the beginning of this very special community project.
Chairperson Janet Howard said: “I have ordered bright sunshine for the whole day!”
The Lupton Trust Open Day is on Saturday 15th August 2009 from 11am – 7pm.
Parking is available for disabled guests within the grounds, all other visitors are asked to utilise the Park and Ride facility, shuttle bus or public transport.
