The Exeter Library Live programme, presented by Exeter Central Library is very excited to bring the bestselling author, Simon Scarrow, to Exeter Central Library for an evening of readings and conversation about his new book, Praetorian, due to be published by Headline Books on 10th November.
Praetorian is the eleventh historical novel from Simon and sees the return of the valiant and admirable Centurions Macro and Cato. The army heroes are now caught up in deceit and murder in ancient Rome. The city of Rome in AD 50 is a dangerous place. Treachery lurks on every corner, and a shadowy Republican movement, 'the Liberators', has spread its tentacles wide. It is feared that the heart of the latest plot lies in the ranks of the Praetorian Guard. Uncertain of whom he can trust, the Imperial Secretary Narcissus summons to Rome two courageous men guaranteed to be loyal to the grave: army veterans Prefect Cato and Centurion Macro. Now they face a race against time to save their own lives before they can unmask the mastermind behind the Liberators...
Simon was born in Nigeria and lived there until his family fled the country during the Biafran war. After developing a fascination for history thanks to a passionate Latin teacher at school, Simon worked as a teacher himself for many years until recently, and is now a fulltime writer. He lives near Norwich with his wife and two sons. For more information about Simon visit www.scarrow.co.uk.
