Kirklees Libraries Libraries
A profile for creative workshops and events in libraries across Kirklees.
Kirklees Libraries host a variety of creative events and groups aimed at all ages, from reading groups and author events, to craft workshops and Knit and Natter groups, to children's craft events and stage shows.
We aim to create a lively and engaging reading offer with reading groups, challenges, promotions and author events.
We bring art in to our health offer by offering opportunities for people to meet in a place where they feel safe, ensuring libraries contribute to the positive health and well-being of local communities.
We organise arts and crafts workshops, supporting library users throughout their lifelong learning journey, because unlike other institutions libraries are open and accessible to all.
We offer business information and IT support to individuals and companies in the creative industries as well as others.
We work with schools, nurseries, youth groups and other partners to ensure that every child and every young person visiting a public library (physically or digitally ) is inspired by an exciting environment which makes reading for pleasure irresistible. They will find a range of books and information resources to support growing confidence in literacy and formal and informal learning. There are opportunities for participation and engagement with a range of fun reading and book-based activities.
Many of our librarians are trained Arts Award Advisors and we support many creative national initiatives including the Summer Reading Challenge and the Big Draw. We are always keen to work with new partners - if you have an idea please get in touch!
