CONFLUX: IMPROVISATION DAY WORKSHOP

I.M.P (in_my_presence) is a collective of artists from various disciplinary backgrounds working together to create performative installations in historic, urban and natural sites aiming at raising viewers’ awareness about the histories, cultures and their materialities. I.M.P members discuss and experiment together to produce artistic outcomes that can “co-exist” as multi-sensory environments. They are interested in learning and cross-pollinating with other practitioners’ approaches to art-making. I.M.P focusses on subtle changes experienced through time-based processes, and how this affects participants and viewers.

Two members of I.M.P, Adam Hussain and Sophia Lycouris (backgrounds in performance and improvisation, somatic practices, creative writing and video installation) will be working at 21, Market Place Huddersfield, an ex-retail store temporarily occupied by dance-artist Adam Hussain.

They invite musicians, dance-movement practitioners, visual artists, writers, sculptors, photographers, videographers to participate in an all-day improvisation workshop to exchange practices and knowledge through structured improvisational processes.

Morning session (10-1 pm) I.M.P will propose a few improvisational scores, task-based investigations to explore both indoors and outdoors (weather permitted). The afternoon (2-5 pm) we will reflect on the morning’s session and further develop explorations in the space.
