David Tindle RA in conversation with Dr Ian Massey
David Tindle RA is amongst the most renowned British figurative painters of his generation, celebrated for his use of the Renaissance technique of egg tempera. Born in Huddersfield in April 1932, he held his first exhibition in London whilst still only nineteen years old, and from that point his career and reputation developed quite rapidly. In London Tindle befriended a circle of artists that included Francis Bacon, John Craxton, Lucian Freud, John Minton and Keith Vaughan.
Huddersfield Art Gallery is hosting a retrospective exhibition spanning over 60 years of his career until March 18. The exhibition has been co-curated by art historian and writer, Dr Ian Massey and Richard Selby, director of the Redfern Gallery. On Saturday 11 March at 2pm, David Tindle will be joining Dr Ian Massey to discuss his life and work.
