Holmfirth Arts Festival hits the headlines
Holmfirth Arts Festival hit the headlines this week with a double page photograph of its Carnival Parade heron in The Guardian Eyewitness section. In addition the Sunday Telegraph ran a colourful image of humming birds in the parade and the Yorkshire Post used a photo of children and adults dressed as exotic birds.
Organisers were delighted with the coverage which was generated with the help of freelance photographer Charlotte Graham, who lives in Holmfirth and sells her photos to the national press.
“Charlotte did an amazing job,” said Media Officer Sally Brown. “She is not only an exceptional photographer but she has all the contacts on the national papers.”
“It gave everyone such a boost to see our wonderful parade getting a national profile.”
The weekend festival brought crowds of people to the pennine market town enjoying a colourful spectacle of free outdoor events as well as sell-out ticketed concerts and performances.
