Emma Carter

Emma Carter presents her first solo exhibition at Harbour House.

Open daily, 10 am - 5 pm

The show includes a large new body of colourful abstract works, alongside the calm, restful seascapes depicting the Burgh Island area that have become Emma's trademark. The newer works in this series explore the textural qualities of the subject matter, and often incorporate sand and other natural materials. Much of Emma's work is concerned with the elements, and 'a philosophical appreciation of our place here in this world, and how we stand in the shadow of the vast power of nature.'

Another new and more surprising strand in Emma's work involves a conceptual approach to global issues, in works that refer to Christo, Anthony Gormley, Anish Kapoor and Andy Goldsworthy.

Alongside familiar paintings, reproductions, poetry and prayer flags, the exhibition includes 20 new works in oils, acrylics and mixed media. Emma likes to set up her easel in the gallery, and is happy to talk about her work at any time.

Emma also works on the local and regional art circuit, promoting the arts through The Great Create Festival at NT Greenway, and Blank Canvas and TACO at Torre Abbey.
