Christmas Bazaar
The South Hams Forum Christmas Craft Fair showcases the work of some the finest artists and makers in the area. With something a little different for Christmas, the artists offer a wide range of arts and crafts, including silver, jewellery, glass, ceramics, basketry and sculpture.
Open Friday 10 am - 9 pm, Saturday 9.30 am - 5 pm and Sunday 11 am - 4 pm
Angela Holland shows an assortment of traditional and contemporary handcrafted artifacts made from willow and wood - beautiful and functional baskets, greenwood stools and xmas decorations.
Christine East incorporates textiile techniques in her jewellery making, to create knitted bangles, lacy silver neckaces, crystal decorated head-dresses and, using crystals, shell and hand-made silver beads, she makes brooches and earrings.
Elisabeth Cooper's passion is for silverware. She makes spoons, bowls, jugs, boxes, candle snuffers, bookmarks and, most recently, collars for Dartington glass candle holders and wine carafes. Her jewellery designs tend to be simple, combining silver with pearls and semi-precious stones.
Joanna Martins produces animal sculptures in hot and cold cast bronze - predominantly hares, those mystical animals of ancient folklore, and other creatures of the British countryside such as otters, sheep and foxes. There will be some exotics too: penguins, dragons, hamsters...
Martine O'Malley will be showing sandblasted glass panels with intricate images of animals and plant life. She also creates mixed media works using hand-made papers, transparencies and gilt leaf.
Inspired by the varied geological formations, flora and fauna of the South Hams coastline, Sandra Litchfield uses pewter, copper and enamel and traditional metalworking skills to create vessels which she describes as the 'heirlooms of the future'.
Sheila Hansford's love of watercolour painting shines through in her ceramic bowls and decorations, which she decorates with coloured slip underglaze colours and scraffitto (scratched decorations) reflecting her love for flowers, swimming in the sea, and walking.
Allie Fredericks, who can also be found at Hope Cove Gallery, will be showing a selection of driftwood craft and photography, as well as greetings cards and mixed media pieces.
Victoria Allen works as an illustrator but also enjoys painting, currently experimenting with incorporating her images into stationery, jewellery and other accessories.
Olivia Wotton's silver and gold jewellery is unusual and simple, and makes use of naturally coloured freshwater pearls, Swarovski crystals and faux pearls, semi-precious stones, fair trade paper Acholi beads, Miyuki Delicas seed beads and local sea glass and ceramic, as well as wood from fallen trees on her parents' farm near the South Devon coast.
