Organisers of a West Country street art exhibition are looking for talented artists to enter a groundbreaking augmented reality art competition. Summer of Art – The Urban Takeover will be taking place at Hannahs at Seale-Hayne (just outside Newton Abbot) from 21 June till the end of August and will feature iconic street art on loan from the V&A, including pieces by Banksy, Blek le rat, Jamie Hewlett, pure Evil and D’Face.

A groundbreaking element of the exhibition will be an Augmented Reality Trail with technology supported by Everything Everywhere. Artists, schools and community groups are being invited to enter pieces of street art/graffiti art no later than 7th June. A panel of expert judges will then choose the very best to be geo-tagged onto walls across the site. Although completely invisible to the eye, these can then be viewed through smart phones and tablets, with mobile phone technology allowing people to vote for their favourites. Prizes include a state-of-the-art tablet.

If you have a piece of art you would like included in the competition, please submit them by email to anna.gilroy@discoverhannahs.org by 7th June.There are no limits as to how many designs you submit. The Augmented Reality Trail will open on Friday 21 June as part of a special Urban Takeover Launch Party featuring music from The Scribes joined by DJ Spinz. This event and the summer exhibition itself are completely free.
