Safe Haven
Safe Haven launches on 1st October, is open to all (though we recommend age 12plus) and is completely free to take part. An immersive soundscape and visually augmented journey has been created by artists Mercurial Wrestler, which will take you back to when Seale-Hayne was a military hospital during WW1. The site was used to treat 100's of shell shock victims and pioneering treatment was led by Arthur Hurst, whose controversial methods led to some seemingly miraculous results.
The trail is available daily, 10-5. Collect your kit bags (lovingly made by our artists and guests on site) containing all your need to take part, from reception at the archway. Please note there are only a limited number of kit bags available but the trail takes just 30 minutes so a bag will never be too far away. If you are coming with a school group or similar, please email enquiries@discoverhannahs.org .
This project has been led by www.mercurialwrestler.com with funding from Arts Council England, Heritage Lottery Fund and Plymouth University.
