STEPHEN FEARING
Canadian singer-songwriter, Stephen Fearing, is a particularly fine singer and guitarist, with his songs displaying a masterful faculty for nailing down a sense of place or exposing the nuances of his songs' characters. When you couple this to a gift for telling stories between songs and a wry sense of humour, it all adds up to an excellent night's entertainment.
A double Juno award winner in his native Canada, Fearing has experienced commercial and critical success, both in his solo career and with roots / rock supergroup Blackie and The Rodeo Kings. Over the course of his celebrated career he has collaborated with a long list of artists that includes: Shawn Colvin, Richard Thompson, Sarah McLachlan, Tom Wilson, Colin Linden, and Margo Timmins. More recently he worked with Andy White and they collaborated on two albums.
His latest album 'Between Hurricanes' was born out of several life-changing events - his marriage ended, he moved house, he remarried and became a father - and is both the document and result of many significant changes for Fearing. The eleven tracks on the record were shaped with the idea of crafting a solo record while not employing a traditional ‘folk’ approach to the music.
Tickets are £12 and can be bought from the venue.
