Textile Badge & Brooch Making w. Nicola Perrin
In this workshop you will learn how to create a wearable textile-based brooch or badge. This can be a decorative item, it may include text as a statement, it can be motif based or something entirely abstract. You may be thinking of it as a gift for someone or, as an item for yourself.
Using a mixed media approach, you will have options to use threads, fabric, beads, sequins or even more unusual items such as paper clips, elastic bands, springs etc.
We will start off by exploring some of the techniques and materials before creating a rough design idea [detailed if you prefer] and will then make the brooch / badge ready for you to leave with by the end of the session. Depending on the complexity, you may have time to make a pair.
The workshop includes basic fabrics, thread, needles, beads, a selection of unusual items and a pin for the back of your brooch / badge. There will also be options to purchase small packs of fabric, beads, yarns and sequins but you can of course bring some of your own supplies to work with too.
