Patchwork [English Paper Piecing] & Applique Bag w. Nicola Perri
This is a great introductory workshop that will see you leaving with a bag which would be suitable as a gift or, for you to treasure for yourself.
It is an introductory session to the hand sewing technique of piecing together small pieces of fabric using the EPP [English Paper Piecing] method; when fabric is temporarily wrapped around thin card. You will be taught about the technique and then have the choice of creating a freeform panel or a log cabin design.
You will then learn how to applique your patchworked piece onto a tote bag [recycled cotton] ready to take away with you at the end of the session.
This will all be done by hand [no sewing machines] and so it is accessible to continue at home. It is a great technique to use with fabrics you have purchased but also as a more sustainable method by using bits of old clothing, bedding etc.
The workshop includes basic fabrics, thread, needles and a tote bag to stitch your work onto. There will also be options to purchase small packs of fabric and additional bags but you can of course bring some of your own fabrics [mid weight – similar to duvet cover weight] to work with.
