Oil Painting using techniques of the Old Masters

I’ve been working on 3 square paintings this month, all in the same rustic blooms theme and painted using some of the techniques of the Old Masters.

Here’s the first painting, it’s in oils and finished off with oil pastels. I’m hoping that this style may be my ‘voice’ as an artist. It’s harder to stay loose in art than I’m used to, but I’m going to keep exploring. This really IS a journey!

What do you think of this style? Do you like loose, messy paintings or do you prefer tidy, more accurate styles? I'd love to know. :-)

One painting has sold already, this painting is for sale, it just needs to dry and be carefully varnished and then it will be going in the shop.
