Berthing Tales: Tracing the Stories of Torquay Harbour
Come celebrate Torquay Harbour's rich ways of life, and share your stories of the place:
The harbour has developed rapidly over the last 250 years. The stories of peoples lives remain in traces, as the patina on railings, worn footsteps on flagstones they become hidden under new constructions, in between buildings. As the harbour front changes once more, Elly Stevens, Devon artist and storyteller will take you on a tour to experience this place in a way the architecture and history books alone cannot recount. And after, come to the Pavilion cafe and share your experiences. We will record your stories so that future generations will know what is felt, heard, seen and understood in the harbour, as it continues to change.
Perhaps you have a tale to tell? Your hidden gem of knowledge about the harbour could become the inspiration for artists, who will represent the stories of people in the harbour as public works of art on permanent display on Victoria Parade.
