South African Township Jazz
We're delighted to welcome the acclaimed South African harmonica and piano player Adam Glasser to the Cowshed. He brings with him an exuberant band of leading young British musicians to play his trademark township jazz. Adam has played with South African legends Hugh Masekela & Dudu Pukwana as well as Sting and the Eurythmics. This concert draws on his new album 'SA & Beyond’ exploring rarely heard township jazz standards across a range of great South African composers from Abdullah Ibrahim to Caiphus Semenya.
“…a unique evening of township jazz and beyond. A joyous affair and resounding success.”…Blues & Soul Magazine
“A composer, keyboardist and harmonica player, Glasser is intense – his tunes are joyful, driving and danceable.”…Jazz Times Review.
