David Hey Memorial Lecture: The Looking for Richard Project
The David Hey Memorial Lecture: The Looking for Richard Project by Philippa Langley MBE will take place at Doncaster Museum & Art Gallery, on Sunday 29th April 2018, at 10.30-12.00 noon.
In 2012, Philippa Langley led the search for Richard III in a council car park in Leicester through her original Looking for Richard Project. Philippa conceived, facilitated and commissioned this unique historical investigation. Following seven and a half years of enquiry, she identified the likely location of the church and grave, instructing exhumation of the human remains uncovered in that exact location. Her project marked the first-ever search for the lost grave of an anointed King of England.
In 2013 she published her compelling story in The King’s Grave: The Search for Richard III. She is President of the Scottish Branch of the Richard III Society and in 2015 was awarded the MBE by HM The Queen at Buckingham Palace.
Philippa now tells her incredible story. Detailing the research that led her to this location and the discovery made on the very first day of the dig, Philippa reveals what the discovery tells us about Richard III and how the return of the king has helped reveal the man behind the Tudor myth.
Philippa will be signing copies of her book after the talk.
Tickets cost £8 and can be purchased from the Local Studies Library, in Doncaster Central Library.
