Exhibition: After the Coal Dust
After the Coal Dust is a powerful collection of black and white photographs of post-industrial towns in the north of England. Taken over the past few years by Castleford couple John and Bridget Gill with their daughter Freya, the photographs capture the faces of people in some of the local communities that have been affected by the end of major industries, in particular coal mining. The idea behind the photographs is not one of nostalgia for the 'good old days' but a dispassionate look at what comes after the closure of an area's main industry. Please note this exhibition is located on the first floor of the Gallery with no lift access due to a faulty lift.
