Crossing the Pennines Trail Crossing the Pennines Heritage Trail
Crossing the Pennines is a project by the Milestone Society to showcase the stunning scenery of the Colne Valley and its travel and transport history that shaped the commercial development of our area.
Besides encouraging both local people and comers-in to appreciate their surroundings, the Heritage Trail is intented to bring sustainable green tourism to our shops, galleries, cafes and hostelries.
You can find details of the route and its history on our website, www.CrossingthePennines.co.uk : the Grand Opening will be on 4th July 2015, by David Pearson the Deputy Lieutenant of West Yorkshire. We've already organised some celebratory events in Marsden - a garden party in the park with Hade Edge Jazzband and some Performance Poetry from Write out Loud in the interval, plus afternoon tea with David Pearson in the Bandroom - and a youth band at the Community centre in Slawit, possibly with an Alternative Market.
But we need some other 'happenings' to make this an occasion that will live in people's memories - what might YOU contribute? Please put on your thinking caps and get in touch with any wild, whacky or sensible ideas...
