STEAM at Westival

The original performance-parkour company The Urban Playground Team bring their James Bond-style gravity-defying stunts to this year’s Westival, and you can even learn some of their spectacular moves yourself!

The impressive cast, alongside a locally-recruited group of young parkour enthusiasts, navigate a skeletal steam train in scenes inspired by action movies, combining the French free-running phenomenon with dance and physical theatre in a performance that will leave you breathless and inspired.

Following the first performance the team will host a workshop, where you can learn some of the basics of free-running before being let loose on the set for a free play session.

The Urban Playground Team have appeared on the BBC’s Blue Peter, Sky1’s Got To Dance and have performed all over the world, so don’t miss this chance to see this locomotive-themed show against the backdrop of Dewsbury train station.

Performances at 12pm and 2.40pm; workshop at 12.45pm and free play at 1.10pm.
