Fun Palaces at Chestnut Centre

Creative Scene is partnering with Kirklees Libraries this October to transform our libraries into Fun Palaces.

Experience your local library like never before in this celebration of arts, science and culture, with activities for all ages.

Immerse yourself in magical stories, try your hand at a range of arts and making activities or feed your thirst for knowledge with readings and talks.

Chestnut Centre on Thu 26 October, 11am-3pm

The Shadow Laboratory present a 20-minute performance based on an Aboriginal folk tale of a greedy frog at 11:30am and 1:30pm. Perfect for under 8’s and their grown ups. After the show, learn to make your own shadow puppet from 12pm – 1pm and 2pm – 3pm. Suitable for all ages.

Community Philosopher, Graeme Tiffany, encourages you to drop-in, speak your mind and listen to others in a conversation exploring our opinions and questions relating to local spaces and communities from 11:30am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 2:30pm.

Have a go at Mosaic and Arabic Geometric Art with Zareena Bano between 11am – 3pm.

Join the Cardboard Orchestra and learn how to create your own electronic music using unconventional instruments. Suitable for all ages. Sessions last 30 mins and start at 11am, 12pm and 2pm.
