Creative Scene partner with Kirklees Leaving Care Service
To celebrate Care Leavers’ Week (23 October - 1 November), Creative Scene have partnered with Kirklees Leaving Care Service to launch a writing project to bring together a creative community of young people with experience of the care system.
To kick off the project, Creative Scene will be hosting a special online performance of GLUE by writer, poet and performer Louise Wallwein MBE for young people in Kirklees who have experienced care.
Following the live online event, Louise will be working with a group of care experienced young people to develop their own stories - and Creative Scene are aiming to build a regular group and long term project that highlights the issues young people with experience of care face, their achievements and aspirations.
Louise Wallwein MBE grew up care of nuns from the age of nine. GLUE is a frank and gripping true story of her meeting her birth mother, three decades after being put up for adoption. The world as she knew it is was turned upside down, and this is how she learnt to fight back.
“Born, transferred, placed, discharged, returned. What can we learn from a life in care? “

Creative Scene will be sharing updates on the project throughout the winter – keep an eye on their social channels for updates.
