Arts on the Menu

Arts on the Menu

Do you want to grow your festival and find ways to attract bigger audiences and funding?

Are you interested in finding out more about programming a wider range of arts activities and performances into your events?

Creative Scene, the Creative People and Places project for North Kirklees, is hosting Arts on the Menu - a free* one-day event exploring practical tips for how to grow ideas into must-see events, with:

- Practical workshops and top tips
- Networking
- Funding information
- Inspirational speakers
- Food and refreshment
- Further information on the Festival Friends investment programme and how to get support for your festival (relevant to North Kirklees organisations)

Speakers include:

Stella Hall - a festival director and programmer with vast experience in festival and venue production and programming across all artforms; Stella is Festival Director for the free family National Festival of Thrift (Darlington) and has recently been working as curator of Artbatfest in Kazakhstan.
Excellent at bringing people together in shared ambitious projects, Stella is passionate about bringing high quality work together with the widest possible audience, and thrives on making things happen in non-traditional spaces as well as in conventional venues.

Liz Pugh - who leads the creative force of artists and event engineers that is Walk the Plank and is Director/Producer of a number of outdoor events that have participation at their heart, including Festival Number 6 at Portmeirion, and Hull’s Freedom Festival.
Liz has a talent for making work that invites people to collaborate, or connect, or celebrate in new ways, often in response to particular locations or for special occasions.

Gill Bond - Satellite Arts, an artist and performer who is skilled in making unique and creative experiences for people of all ages, and who led the Thornhill Shining Lights lantern events. Gill also designed and co-ordinated the original Slaithwaite Moonraking Lantern Festival in 1985, which has grown to become a thriving traditional annual celebration.

Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to network with the people who want to make North Kirklees an even better place.

There are a limited number of places available. Priority and free entry is given to organisations with a North Kirklees postcode (WF12 – 17, BD11 and BD19). *Due to the way we’re funded there will be a small suggested donation of £10 to organisations from outside that area, payable on the day.

Booking is now open. Lunch and an evening networking buffet is included.

If you have any questions regarding the event, please contact Rebecca Legg on 01924 437966 or email rebecca@creativescene.org.uk.
