Violinist, Wattle & Daub
Wattle & Daub are looking for someone to fulfil the role of Touring Violinist with them during rehearsals and on their national tour of The Depraved Appetite of Tarrare the Freak: a mid-large scale chamber opera with music and libretto by Tom & Tobi Poster, from January 2017.
The on-stage performers comprise 2 singers, 2 puppeteers and 2 instrumentalists (pianist and violinist). All six performers are very involved throughout the show, with both instrumentalists requiring musical flexibility and considerable virtuosity. This tour will include a three week run at Wilton’s Music Hall, London January-February 2017.
The ideal person will be of an exceptional playing standard, have previous experience of performing as part of an ensemble in live performance, and be confident in ensuring the musical style is upheld.
Ideally the candidate would be involved in some small extra elements such as singing, etc.
The show has a very clear aesthetic and musical style which can be heard in the trailer: https://vimeo.com/141902807
The show is supported by the Wellcome Trust, Arts Council England, Tobacco Factory Theatres, Bristol Ferment at Bristol Old Vic, and Theatre Bristol, and was short-listed for the 2013 Flourish new opera competition.
Rehearsals:
January 2017 Bath/Bristol (3 weeks) – these will be limited with a handover from the show’s original Musical Director
Performances: January-March 2017
Deadline for applications: Friday 21 October 2016, 5pm
Fee: to be discussed
