Pianist/Performer, Giffords Circus
Gifford's Circus are seeking a Pianist/Performer for the 2018 season.
We are a travelling circus, performing around the greens and parks of the Cotswolds and West of England to 100,000 people a year.
The show, directed by Cal McCrystal, combines circus and theatre with a strong musical element. We will be playing and devising an original score. At this stage of development, we will be coming from the direction of Ragtime to 1930’s-era swing: Foxtrot, Maxixe, Charleston, Jitterbug..but there will probably be also some Disco.
You will be an integral part of the whole show; an energetic and enthusiastic approach to performance is a must. We are ideally looking for somebody with both serious musical and wide acting/clowning experience.
The auditions will be on a rolling basis in London from December so please reply asap. Please bring 2-3 contrasting pieces, and be prepared to improvise or sight-read. To apply, please send us a CV and some audio/video recordings of your playing.
The season will include dates between May and October. You will be performing in an international troupe of jugglers, acrobats, horses, clowns and chickens in a tent you have helped put up yourself. Accommodation provided in the form of a vintage circus wagon! This is hard work, but incredibly rewarding.
