Heritage Lottery Fund ££££££££
The Culture Secretary has announced that at least £10 million will be set aside to help fund projects marking some of the UK’s most important anniversaries and commemorative events over the next four years. The cash will be awarded to the Heritage Lottery Fund to distribute to projects starting in 2014. Grants will range from a few thousand pounds to potentially more than £2 million.
Events that could be eligible for funding include the:
1. Centenary of Dylan Thomas’ birth in 2014
2. 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta in 2015
3. 600th anniversary of Agincourt in 2015
4. Bicentenary of the Battle of Waterloo in 2015
5. 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death in 2016
6. 700th anniversary of Bannockburn in 2016
7. 150th anniversary of Beatrix Potter’s birth in 2016.
Funding is also expected to go to projects marking significant dates in the Second World War and a decade of anniversaries in Northern Ireland. On-line guidance and advice will be available to applicants from January 2014 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
