Freelance Curatorial Advice/Consultancy, Contains Art
Description
Job role: Freelance Curatorial Advice/Consultancy
Reporting to: Project Managers
Hours: 7-10 days during 2016
Location: Contains Art, Watchet,Somerset
Contract value: £2,500
Having recently secured a significant Grants for the Arts project award from ACE we are seeking to enhance our external curatorial capacity and the skills of our in-house staff as we move from being a small-scale local gallery to one with a bigger presence and ambitions. In the short term we wish to kick-start this process by engaging external curatorial support on a limited basis for a couple of days a month/per exhibition. This will offer guidance to some of the artists we work with and expertise to our organisation as we develop.
Contains Art opened in July 2013 as a new, innovative, creative venue built by volunteers from reconfigured shipping containers on the harbour-side in a disadvantaged, rurally-isolated town in Somerset. It currently houses a Gallery and four artists studios. The organisation is a key partner in wider regeneration plans to include a purpose-built expanded gallery and up to ten studios in the next few years.
