English Riviera Geopark Pirates 'meet' Nowhereisland
On the 6th August 2012 the Cultural Olympiad project Nowhere Island stopped off in the English Riviera Global Geopark as part of its tour around the South West of England.
During this time the Geopark's Geo Collective artists and musicians were around on the harbourside to engage and entertain all with songs, stories and fun which interweaved our local history and heritage with the concepts of global rock journeys, travelling, time, wind and tide.
Two special "Geopark meets Nowhere Island" creative workshops led by the Geotrio also took place for local children connected with Play Torbay. The children had an opportunity to have a fantastic time getting creative with the artists and then had have a specially arranged trip to the embassy.
Around the world, supported by UNESCO, Global Geoparks celebrate the stories of their rocks and it was fantastic that the Geopark and this Cultural Olympiad project were able to link.
This fantastic film was created by local film maker Silver Levy-So
