£40,000 pa Two Year Fixed Term (renewable) Full-time, but open to proposals for appropriate alternatives.

The role of Director of Gloucester Culture Board is one of the most interesting opportunities in the world of heritage and culture today.

Gloucester is aiming to become City of Culture 2025 and has developed a Cultural Strategy which puts culture at the heart of the City for the good of all. The aims of the strategy are to build an exciting, sustainable and resilient arts and cultural ecology and economy that will play an active role in the success of the city. The Strategy has been developed in consultation with local artists and arts organisations and other stakeholders. Its successful delivery will be dependent on a continued collaborative approach. It aims to provide cohesion and leadership that will allow both existing activity to thrive and new activities to emerge. It aims to bring new investment and funding into the city, build local and national partnerships and in doing so transform the city to become an international hub of heritage and creativity.

We are seeking an exceptional individual who can build and develop Gloucester's talent, particularly among young people in the City, and continue to harness the energy and skills of local arts organisations and people. You will be a skilled and inspirational leader and networker – able to bring people with you to deliver a shared vision and gain the respect of the many groups in the City, from councillors to artists, funders, business leaders and community groups. This is a challenging role that will require someone with resilience to see it through and achieve the results that we know Gloucester can deliver with the right leadership.
